The Abergavenny Food Festival made its return on the weekend of 20–21 September 2025, once again turning the town into a hub for food lovers. With more than 180 exhibitors, the streets, market and castle grounds were filled with everything from street food and artisan produce to live cookery demonstrations, drinks tastings and author talks.

Saturday was a test of resilience, with heavy rain setting in early and showing no sign of easing. Umbrellas and waterproofs became the order of the day, but the crowds came anyway. The Market Hall offered welcome shelter, packed with visitors watching chefs at work. At the castle, The Hangfire Girls, refused to let the weather win, keeping their fire stage going as flames and smoke rose into air.
As the day drew to a close, the Night Market and Party at the Castle rounded off the weekend in style, with music, street food and plenty of drinks too.
By contrast, Sunday delivered sunshine. Bright skies lifted the town, and festival-goers turned up to enjoy a sunny day of food and fun. Families filled the castle grounds, where children took part in cookery workshops and creative activities. The stalls came alive, with everything from sizzling street food to Welsh cheeses and craft spirits.
There was also plenty happening for those keen to learn from the best. Gluten-free expert Becky Excell drew a big crowd, sharing practical tips and recipes that proved eating gluten-free doesn’t mean missing out on flavour or variety. Meanwhile, the Octopus Books Dome hosted big conversations about food and education, and the library offered quieter moments with chefs and writers in the ever popular “Meet the Author” sessions.
Even with the weather on Saturday it's hard not to be impressed by effort and the sheer determined team work that goes into creating this massive festival.
Once again Abergavenny Food Festival showed that Abergavenny comes alive no matter the weather.
