Abergavenny Food Festival Returns This September with Packed Programme

The Abergavenny Food Festival will return on the weekend of 20–21 September 2025, marking its 27th year as one of the UK’s leading food and drink festivals.

Abergavenny Food Festival

The two-day event will bring together growers, producers, chefs, writers and food lovers across six fully accessible venues in the town centre. Markets, demonstrations, talks and family activities will all feature as part of the packed programme.

A Stroller Ticket is required to access the main festival sites. Prices are £16 for a day or £25 for the weekend for adults, £5 per day or £8.50 for the weekend for 13–15 year olds, and free for children under 13 accompanied by an adult. Tickets must be purchased in advance at www.abergavennyfoodfestival.com

Chef Demonstrations and Talks

Highlights from the weekend include demonstrations from leading chefs such as Cyrus Todiwala, Becky Excell, Thomasina Miers, Asma Khan and Matt Tebbutt, as well as appearances from food writers including Diana Henry, Felicity Cloake, Gurdeep Loyal and Olly Smith. Stages include the Market Hall’s Gower Cottage Brownies Stage and the Cooking Over Fire Stage in the Castle Grounds.

The Borough Theatre will host a programme of book talks and discussions with well-known names including Andi Oliver and Diana Henry, while the Octopus Books Dome will feature debates, BBC Radio 4 recordings and food quizzes.

Markets and Producers

Visitors can browse and sample produce at the New and Local Producers’ Market, the Cheese & Wine Market, and across multiple sites showcasing food, drink and artisan goods. Street food will be a key feature, alongside the popular Night Market in The Brewery Yard on Saturday evening.

Family Activities

The festival also offers a strong programme for families. The Castell Howell Kids’ Cookery School, run by Cook Stars, will host free cookery sessions for children aged 5 and above. The Castle Grounds will feature additional activities including willow weaving, flower crown making, face painting and bee-themed workshops.

Ticketed Events

In addition to Stroller Ticket entry, a range of individually ticketed events will run across the weekend. These include tutored tastings at the Drinks Theatre, workshops with the Abergavenny Baker, foraging walks, and author sessions at Abergavenny Library.
