On Saturday 6 September 2025, Monmouthshire will be in the spotlight as Stage Five of the prestigious Lloyds Tour of Britain Men powers through the county. Setting off from Pontypool Park, the route quickly makes its way into Monmouthshire, featuring a demanding double ascent of The Tumble in Govilon, one of the most iconic and challenging climbs in Welsh cycling.
While the event promises excitement for race fans, residents and businesses should prepare for significant, albeit temporary disruption, with rolling road closures affecting key routes across Monmouthshire for around 30 to 40 minutes as the race passes. Areas around the start zone in Pontypool will also see longer closures for event infrastructure and public safety. With crowds also anticipated, locals are encouraged to plan ahead and consult official channels for detailed road closure timings and travel advice to minimise inconvenience.
